Allison Weiss - “I Had To Do It”

This song is new, meaning I wrote it in April and I just started playing it. Recorded LIVE @ Sidewalk Cafe last night! Complete with the banter beforehand. What an amazingly fun show!

patrickmoberg:
This is the Polish prostitute I helped transfer to the G train last night.  We had to wait around  for the F train for a good half hour and ended up talking a lot.  She was a strangely good judge of character, as I now realize most hookers probably are. I said she was stupid for wearing such uncomfortable shoes.  She said that it’s what guys like.  I said that not all guys like that, and she said that those men were liars.

Sure, Gen Xers can laugh about it now, but Gen Yers respect our parents, and our parents are interested in every part of our lives, even when we’re 30. Don’t be surprised to see Gen Y employees giving their parents a tour of the office and calling up mom and dad for a little advice on their lunch break. It’s not about being babied or refusing to grow up, it’s about a level of mutual respect that Gen Y has for our parents and our parents have for us.

I think I like Paris Hilton just a little bit more after seeing this.

“See you at the debates, bitches”

dear allison w!

allthegoodstuff:

i’m sitting in starbucks!

but i’ve been here for about 30 min and haven’t seen you, so i’m going to pack up and head out.

i dropped my phone in the toilet while i was in l.a. and the speaker part still doesn’t work.  so i sent you a text!

hopefully we’re not sitting in two different places, because that would be funny.

i don’t see any girls with red glasses around me.

next time?

This is what I get for staying up till 4am. The funny thing is, shortly before I woke up and checked my phone, I dreamed that I was 15 minutes late. Turns out I was 26 minutes late. I feel terrible. Next time……

Allison your music is quirky, cute, and fun. It’s also sweet, endearing, and heart warming. I can also tell you are a smart girl and know what you are doing. That’s why I won’t let your rimmed glasses or To Write Love On Her Arms (I have no proof, I’m just assuming you have one) shirt let me call you a Lisa Loeb emo-gal rip off. Why? Cause you are better than that, it’s more like you are the female Ben Kweller … not quite Ben Gibbard - though you may become that … but don’t do that just yet! You are young, spunky, web 2.0, savvy, and all that good stuff, so use that to your advantage, but don’t let it burn you in the end. There isn’t a female Ben Kweller out there if you ask me. The world could use somebody like you to perk them up when they are down, or to make them shed a happy tear rather than a sad one. But being as young as you are, don’t let Doghouse or DriveThru or yourself turn you into Meg & Dhia or anything like that, you are better than that and you have the ability to carve your own niche and let yourself and a Barsuk or Saddle Creek take it to the next level time and time again. And don’t let a major turn you into Sara Barelles, keep that indie kick going, cause it suits you well, but your songs are accessible so don’t hate on the majors if they come knocking, just make sure you have the right relationship there where they will trust you to know you best. You post on YouTube, you have a Tumblr, you have an image, you are a designer, you write good songs, good lyrics, you work hard in general, you seem to be falling in quickly with the full band format. There’s not a whole lot I can really add to what you’ve already got going, the only thing you could do is expand your vocal range, but chances are, you know that, and you are working on it already. So hats off to you, and here’s to much continued success.

If you plan to come to my show, do not buy a drink from the bar. Get one from the waitress in back.

I just got asked if I wanted meat with my waffle. What?

Listening to my song "Number Six"

  • Rosie: You know what's funny? My #6 was my Dad
  • Me: Ha. Uh, yeah. How is that funny?
  • Rosie: Maybe you were in love with my Dad.

just took this bear to the next level.

Creepy Moment of The Day:
Walking down the aisles of this dark and cramped dollar store, which is perfectly silent, except for the monophonic tune of “Happy Birthday” playing over and over from a dysfunctional greeting card.
